Obadiah + Jonah + Micah
Back to: All Lessons | Old Testament | New Testament | Current Study
Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament and deals with the bitter rivalry between Edom, the descendants of Jacob’s twin brother, Esau, and the people of Israel. This book gives a dramatic example of God’s response to anyone who would harm His children.
The story of Jonah running in the opposite direction when God told him to go to Ninevah, surviving three days in the belly of a fish, is one of the clearest demonstrations in Scripture of God’s love and mercy for all peoples who will accept His salvation.
The corruption of the political and religious leaders of Judah is emphasized and this book rebukes anyone who would use social status or political power for personal gain. Micah, which means “who is like the LORD?” preached to the common people of Judah and was burdened by the abusive treatment of the poor.
We provide a general outline for each book of the Bible, as well as individual handouts with discussion questions for each lesson. We hope these resources help you know God and grow in your understanding of His plan for your life.
