Hosea’s name means “salvation,” and his prophetic message provides one of the most eloquent expressions of God’s mercy. Hosea was instructed by God to marry an unfaithful woman, and he found in his own life a vivid illustration of the unfaithfulness of God’s people and the faithfulness of God’s love for Israel as steadfast.
